Abstract
In situ observation of the evolution of precipitating gas hole in casting was performed by using the transparent organic alloys. In pure substance solidification, precipitating gas hole happened after the a thin solidification shell had appeared, and developed from wall to center with solidification, which present the growth of gas strip. In alloy solidification, precipitating gas hole happened with the hot tear and shrinkage porosity beginning formation in the final stage of casting solidification, which present a certain extent gather. Precipitating gas hole will become denser if increasing the superheat of alloy melt before pouring, and the number and range of precipitating gas hole will be reduced if reducing the temperature of cast mold and ambient. The formation of precipitating gas hole, hot tear and shrinkage porosity can be effectively depressed by vacuum degassing.
