Abstract

Recent information fusion models emphasize the role of human. The intent of the models is to regard the need of users. The cooperation between human and machine is a most important principle for system design. A user-centered model for Information Fusion System (IFS) was presented. Seven levels composed of the system. Human was found to introduce into the system as both a controller and a decision-maker. Based on insightful analysis of human and machine strengths, and possible automation degree in fusion process, the key issues involved automation determination and evaluative criteria were discussed. They offered an available thinking in static and adaptive automation from system design to implementation. Then the issues about Human-Machine Interface (HMI) design and methodology in situation and threat assessment were mentioned. The purpose of these efforts is to augment efficiency of fusion with cooperation between human and machine.
