Abstract

Applying the dendritic perfect absorbing metamaterial to the substrate of the conventional microstrip patch antenna, the electromagnetic surface wave could be well reduced, therefore, the performance of the antenna can be obviously improved. Numerical simulation and experiment demonstrate that the side radiation can be reduced and the forward radiation is increased. As a result, the gain of the antenna can be enhanced by 1.22 dB.
