Abstract

A coaxial dual-feed annular microstrip patch antenna with a shorted ring is given in this paper. It has the characteristic of small permittivity, low-profile, high gain and circular polarization. This structure has a good adjustability, i.e. the size can be adjusted easily to operate on other frequency bands. The proposed antenna in this paper resonates at 2.25 GHz and the gain is higher than 11 dB. The high gain and good circular polarization performance make it very suitable for small satellite data link application. In the first part, the antenna structure and geometry will be presented, then the results of its radiation characteristics analyzed by Ansoft HFSS 11 will be given, and several key parameters will be deeply studied lastly.
