Abstract

A novel dual-polarized base-station antenna with reduced height using meta-surface is proposed in this paper. The antenna is composed of two dipoles placed crosswise and a meta-surface atop of it, which works at the frequency band from 0.69 to 0.96GHz. Compared to the normal height of a dipole antenna (0.25 wavelength), the total height of the proposed antenna together with meta-surface is only 0.1 wavelength of the center frequency. Simulated results show that the height reduction is achieved without degrading the performance of the antenna.
