Abstract
This paper presented the progress and applications of femtosecond laser, as well as, a few methods to generate femtosecond laser, the physical mechanism of laser pulse dispersion and its compensation technology, and the conditions of generation of transform limited pulse. In addition, the paper introduced the amplification and compression of ultra-short and ultra intense laser pulses, the principle of chirped pulse amplification and the main conditions of generating high peak power, short pulse width. The optical parameter chirped pulse amplification (OPCPA) technology which leads to high signal noise ratio, wide spectral bandwidth, high efficiency was discussed in detail. Finally, this paper described new methods of generating and measuring atto-second (as) laser pulses.
