Abstract

A quick and exact method for finding the effective rib arrangement regions was proposed. Firstly the radiated noise of gearbox with a double helical gear system was calculated using FEM/BEM. Then panels were divided based on the analysis of acoustic transfer vector and modal acoustic contribution. Panel acoustic contribution analysis was completed and regions having larger acoustic contributions were found. Finally, the structure of gearbox housing was improved and the effective rib arrangement regions were identified. The results showed that the analysis of acoustic transfer vector and modal acoustic contribution can provide basis for the definition of panels and make it more accurate. The regions having larger acoustic contributions can be found quickly and exactly, which can provide basis for the finding of effective rib arrangement regions. The radiated noise on the corresponding field point can be reduced by arranging ribs on these effective regions.
