Abstract

A modified test rig of QM1000-II type wet friction performance tester was assembled by refitting the jigger equipment, adding the data acquisition program and the data processing program of the friction torque. A paper-based friction material reinforced by cellulose fiber was prepared by using the paper-making method. The relationship between load and friction torque characteristics and the effect of load on the static coefficient and dynamic coefficient of friction of paper-based friction material were investigated. The results show that the torque magnitude of both static and dynamic friction increases with the increasing of load, the static coefficient of friction increases linearly and the dynamic coefficient of friction declines as increasing of loads. The duration time of the torque curve of static friction is independent of loading. Experiment data of static torque are more accurate and more reliable by automatic method than by manual method. The experiment results will have guide significance for design of operation parameters of a wet clutch and optimizing the composition formula of friction materials.
