Abstract

Fast neutron irradiated melt-textured YBa2Cu3O7-x samples obtained by the powder melting process (PMP) were studied. After irradiation the critical current density jc, determined from the dc magnetization measurements, for magnetic field perpendicular to the a-b plane reaches the value of 9.4·104 A/cm2 at 77 K in field of 1 T. Magnetization measurements, low-field microwave absorption studies and observation of microstructure of PMP samples indicate that, because of the high quality of grain connections, jc in these samples is not limited by weak links.
