Abstract

Zr/SiC and Zr/Si3N4 laminated composites were fabricated by tape casting and hot pressing (HP) at 1860 °C for 30 min. The compounds of Zr/SiC and Zr/ Si3N4 laminated composites were detected. The Zr/SiC laminated composite was composed of ZrC, t-ZrO2 and SiC, and the Zr.Si3N4 laminated composite contained Si3N4, Zr2CN, t-ZrO2 and little SiC. The microstructures were investigated, and the laminated composites had compacted interface without delamination. Zirconium compounds and SiC phase infiltrated alternatively in Zr/SiC laminated composite. The flexural properties were test and the flexural strengths of Zr/SiC and Zr/Si3N4 laminated composites were 252.27±7.29 MPa and 130.33±13.27 MPa, respectively.
