Abstract

For centuries Chinese ginseng has been accepted as being very beneficial to the health of old people, including delaying effeteness of brain tissue. cDNA microarray is now regarded as being effective for exploring the mechanism of the effect of medicine. We now use cDNA microarray to study the mechanism of the effect of Chinese ginseng on delaying effeteness of brain tissue. A brief introduction to obtaining gene expression profile with cDNA microarray and the design of experiments are presented. The paper gives the plan of experiments on brain tissue of mice. The analysis of results, including the results of extracting total RNA, the scanned results of cDNA microarray, the test results of the hybridized technique system, and the results of screening with cDNA microarray, and the bioinformatics analysis and discussion. The result gives the ratios of 13 genes to be all less than 0.5, meaning that all 13 genes show marked effect of Chinese ginseng. We find that gene Nckapl (ratio=0.471) and gene Atp5al (ratio=0.338) may be the target genes of effeteness-delaying effect of Chinese ginseng.
