Abstract

It is clear that the vaned diffuser plays an important part in overall performance. An experiment was performed on a large scale centrifugal compressor to study the unsteady flow inside the vaned diffuser. The probe support was improved and a hot wire anemometer with Phase-Locked Ensemble Averaged technique was used. The instantaneous signal was decomposed with ensemble-aver age and time-average. Finally, an unsteady intensity is defined in this paper to describe quantitatively the unsteady effect induced from the impeller.
