Abstract

The particle-generator device with a convergent part was designed and experiments were carried out using typical HTPB composite propellant containing 17% aluminum. The condensed particles in the chamber of SRM under aggregation condition were effectively and completely collected in the use of an airtight water tank and analyzed by means of Mastersizer2000 and SEM. The results show that compared with the normal condition, the collision among particles is more severe under aggregation condition. The condensed particles distribute in a much wider range and the volumetric distribution peak value of particle size is much bigger, which lies between 9μm and 13μm. The results provide basic data for simulation of two-phase flow and analysis of operating courses in the rocket motors.
