N2 - With the development of computer technology and commercial software, it is possible to design and develop flight simulator. Because it includes computer application, mechanism, electron and autocontrol etc., more and more universities and academes begin the research of flight simulator. Based on the study of flight simulator inland and outland, this paper proposes distributed computer system based on commercial PC and Rapid Control Prototyping technology (RCP) to develop flight simulator. It can reduce the development cost and software development time consuming and debugging difficulty greatly. First according to the base function of flight simulator and the components of computers, the action of computers was proposed. Then software model and structure were developed based on RCP. Third flight simulator prototype system was developed. Because of the absence of flight data, subjective test was used to validate the flight simulator prototype system. The pilots gave high appraisement. Verification, Validation and Accreditation of prototype system should be put up to improve the performance according to the obtained flight data and standard development process using RCP was established to direct the next development in the next step.
