Abstract

Knowing the situation of the target in front is very important for safe driving when the vehicle is driving at a high speed. In this paper, a new method for estimating target situation based on 77GHz millimeter wave sensor for ACC system is proposed. First, Multiple sets of velocity and range values are obtained by taking multiple measurements of the target in short time periods. Then, using multipoint linear fitting to estimate the acceleration of the target. At last, judging the target situation by the magnitude of the acceleration. Simulation results prove that this method can efficient estimate the acceleration of the target and then achieve the purpose of judging its situation.
