Abstract

In this work, the electromagnetic properties of dielectric sandwich materials with hexagonal honeycomb core are studied. The periodical sandwich material is represented by its unit cell which is bounded with perfect electrical conductor (PEC) or perfect magnetic conductor (PMC). The finite difference-time domain (FD-TD) analysis is performed to predict the dielectric properties of sandwich materials. Thus, the permittivity in tensor form can be retrieved from the scattering parameters (S Parameters). By means of the parametric study, the influence of the microstructure parameters and skin thickness on the electromagnetic properties of sandwiches is investigated. Numerical results show that the anisotropy of sandwich is determined by honeycomb, and the permittivity of sandwich is linearly related to the relative thickness of skin.
