Electroluminescent materials based on spirobifluorene

Abstract

Spirobifluorene possesses a steric nonplanar structure. Two fluorene moieties are connected through a sp3-C atom as a spiro-linkage. It is very helpful to improve the thermal and spectral stabilities by introducing the spirobifluorene units into the electroluminescent molecules. In this paper, recent progresses of the organic and polymeric electroluminescent materials which contain spirobifluorene units are reviewed, and the prospect of molecular design of these materials is also given briefly.
