Abstract

Effects of reciprocating extrusion on the microstructures and mechanical properties of as-cast Mg-0.85Zn-0.15Y-0.6Zr alloys enforced by quasicrystal particles were investigated by OM, SEM and XRD. The results show that the reciprocating extrusion can greatly refine the microstructure of as-cast Mg-0.85Zn-0.15Y-0.6Zr alloy, and make I phase relatively uniformly distribute in the α-Mg matrix. Compared with that of the as-cast alloy, the yield strength, tensile strength and elongation of the Mg-0.85Zn-0.15Y-0.6Zr magnesium alloys after reciprocating extrusion are increased by 75.8%, 43.2% and 35%, respectively.
