Abstract

Selecting an appropriate kinetic model for non-isothermal solid state phase transformations has strong influence on the accuracy of the extracted kinetic exponents. Using the traditional form of the Johnson-Mehl-Avrami model has caused obvious deviations in many cases, leading to severe parameter distortions. We have demonstrated that this is because the kinetic model is not applicable. When an appropriate kinetic function is used, the Avrami plots can still keep good linearity, and the Avrami exponent determined this way is more reasonable.
