Abstract

The porosity and moisture absorption of carbon-carbon (C/C) composites have important effects on the oxidation protection. The oxidation resistance of C/C composites with three kinds of porosity and variation of absorption before and after oxidation at different temperatures were studied. The experimental results have shown that for the composites with the lower porosity and the higher graphitization temperature, the oxidation resistance is better. The moisture absorption increases with the increase of porosity, and reaches a saturation at definite time. The moisture absorption after oxidation enhances and reaches to peak at some temperatures with the increase of temperature.
