Effect of heat-treatment on mechanical properties of 3D-C/PyC/SiC

Abstract

The effects of two kinds of heat treatment processes on the mechanical properties of 3D-C/PyC/SiC were investigated. Heat treatment for carbon fiber woven preform with PyC interphase before deposition of SiC matrix can make the flexural strength and KIC of 3D-C/PyC/SiC at room temperature increase obviously, and the maximum amplitude is 38.6% and 80.5% respectively. Heat treatment for C/PyC/SiC after deposition of SiC matrix can make the flexural strength and KIC of 3D-C/PyC/SiC at room temperature decrease obviously, and the maximum amplitude is 60%.
