Abstract

Sustainable product design concerns economic, environmental and social impacts enacted through the product lifecycle. Majority of the manufacturers have realized the importance of sustainability, but there is not a effect method they can take into practice. This paper proposed a methodology which is based on the environmentally conscious quality function deployment (ECQFD) and product life cycle assessment (LCA) for the product designers. Environmental voice of customer, environmental engineering metrics, product life cycle cost and product effectiveness are involved in the method. The case study is conducted in an electronics switches factory, and the result of the implementation shows the effectiveness and worth of the proposed method.
