Abstract

By using numerical calculation and experimental analysis, the dynamic response of a structure considering nonlinearity (elasto-plastic and large deformation) was discussed. An analysis of a model of dual nonlinearity was made and an universal FEP (Finite Element program) was compiled. Furthermore, the BINA (Bird Impact Nonlinear Analysis) program was improved. This paper considers shear stresses and inertial forces in three directions, thus it not only can analyse thin plates and shells, but also provide useful values for thick plates and shells under large dynamic load. By SHPB (Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar) experimental set-up, the response of an LY12CZ plate clamped on all four edges to transverse impact loading was measured. According to the measured load, the nonlinear numerical calculation is performed for the plate by the present method. Calculated and experimental results are in fairly good agreement.
