Dynamic characteristic analysis of a propeller-rotor system

Abstract

By the transfer matrix method, a method for analyzing the dynamic characteristics of a propeller-rotor system was presented. In the method the influence of the rotor case and the coupling between of the free turbine rotor and the main gas turbine rotor were taken into account. The critical speeds of both free turbine rotor and gas turbine rotor can be calculated and the dynamic response of the propeller-rotor system can also be predicted. A typical propeller-rotor system was analyzed. The calculated first and second critical speeds of the system are in agreement with the experimental results. It is shown that the method is effective.
