Abstract

This paper describes the design of a dual-polarized, wideband array with hybrid waveguide-stripline feeding network. The majority portion of the hybrid feeding network is made up of rectangular waveguides. Stripline circuits are used to couple energy from the waveguides and used to feed the radiating elements. The use of such a hybrid feed network is to maintain high efficiency of rectangular waveguides while the stripline offers flexibility needed for a dual-polarized array. Details on the design of the antenna element, feeding network and the construction of the overall structure are presented. The simulated results of the whole array are also presented, which show the antenna perform well from 14.89 GHz to 16.65 GHz. Good radiation patterns and cross-polarization results are also observed.
