Abstract

Some basic problems in preparing YBCO superconductor by directional solidification, including the peritectic reaction, the interface stability and its control, the orientation of solidification, and crystal orientation control, were discussed. Many problems have been revealed and must be overcome in the future, in order to get an optimum structure.
