Abstract

Aspirated fan/compressor (ASFC) is an integral part of high pressure ratio compression system. So, the background, necessity, technical features and research trend of ASFC were reviewed and analyzed. With ASFC technology, it shall be possible to increase efficiently fan/compressor pressure ratio, but also reduce the axial length and weight of the engine as well as the noise of fans. Meanwhile, it increases the flexibility and payload of the flight vehicle, thus reducing the fuel consumption. However, this new structure also leads to some problems in strength and aeroelasticity, so some analytical results and suggestions are presented.
