Abstract

Size Exclusion Chromatography-Multi Angle Laser Light Scattering (SEC-MALL) is a novel technique for molecular weight measurement. A low molecular weight polyether glycol was taken as an example to analyze the principle of SEC-MALLS and its influencing factors. It is found that the increase in sample concentration of oligomer can reduce measurement error. The variation of dn/dc possesses little effect on the result obtained. The determination of the effective peak area in accordance with the occurrence of the differential peak versus the laser peak disappearance can obtain a result with less measurement error, and the measurement error can also be reduced through removing the data which are deviated the straight line via extrapolation the data of θ to 0° in Debye curve.
