Abstract

Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) technology has gone through a rapidly grown. Among all the WPT techniques, magnetic resonance has been a cornerstone since 19th century and appears suitable for charging the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV). The WPT system for UAV is designed with the GaN HEMT due to its excellent properties that allow for high current, high voltage breakdown and high switching frequency. In this paper, a WPT system working at an ISM operation frequency of 6.78MHz is designed to achieve the output power level of 50W while maintain the overall efficiency at 90% level. The system experiments are conducted with coil separation distance at 10mm, 15mm and 20mm respectively. The results indicate that the overall system efficiency can achieve at approximate 90% level and the output power can achieve 40W.
