Design of a Low Profile Antenna Considering the Thermal Properties

Abstract

A compact and low profile antenna for aerocraft is presented in the paper. For the aerocraft application, not only the electrical properties but also the thermal properties should be considered in the antenna design. Full metal structure is used in the antenna design to meet the thermal requirement. C-shaped structure and shorting pins are used in the antenna design for the compact and low profile antenna design, which can reduce the antenna environment temperature because small size means the small wind resistance. The size of the antenna is only 0.19×0.09× 0.06 λ3, where λ is the center frequency.
