Abstract
The aim of this research was to investigate the densification of cylindrical unidirectional C-C composites by isothermal chemical vapor filtration. Several different preforms with different fiber volume fractions were prepared, and it was found that the preforms with the lower fiber volume fraction have a more rapid rate of densification and the final density is higher. The problem of infiltrating uniformly, as well as the effects of large penetrating holes in the preform on densification was also discussed.
