Abstract

A defected ground structure (DGS) is proposed to in this paper to reduce the mutual coupling between coplanar placed antenna elements. Another arc-shaped DGS under the antenna elements is also studied to reduce the cross-polarization (XP) level, because the DGS for mutual coupling suppression will increase the XP level unnecessarily. Using this method, both the mutual coupling suppression and the XP level improvement are achieved.
