Abstract

The corrosion resistances of some Zr - Sn - Nb - Fe - Cr alloys have been investigated at 400°C/10. 3 MPa steam and 360°C/ 18. 6 MPa lithium hydroxide solution with 7 × 10-5 Li, respectively. The structure and composition of the second phases in the alloys were determined using TEM and EDAX. The results show that the alloy with low Nb content (0.2 wt%) has superior corrosion resistance in both media. The alloy with high Nb content (1.0wt%) and low Fe/Cr ratio has worse corrosion resistance in both media. The alloy with high Nb content and high Fe/Cr ratio has better corrosion resistance in steam and worse corrosion resistance in lithium hydroxide solution. The different performances of the alloy with low Nb content and low Fe/Cr ratio in various media result from the structures and compositions of the second phases.
