Abstract

The authors regret the unintentional error due to the omission of a reference work carried out by Chen et al. https://doi.org/10.1021/jacs.8b05825. 2.2. Single pot preparation of POP-F: POP-F was prepared in a single pot preparation procedure first carried out by Chen et al. [S. Chen, D. M. Koshy, Y. Tsao, R. Pfattner, X. Yan, D. Feng, Z. Bao, Highly tunable and facile synthesis of uniform carbon flower particles, J. Am. Chem. Soc. (2018), https://doi.org/10.1021/jacs.8b05825]. 3.1. Synthesis and characterization of adsorbent: POP-AOF was synthesized in a two-step reaction shown in Fig. 1. In the beginning, the monomer (AN) and the initiator (AIBN) are in the form of a homogenous mixture. Heat treatment to reaction mixture decomposes AIBN into free radicals and started the polymerization of monomer (AN). When the polymer reached the critical chain length and precipitated in the form of a primary nucleus. The continuous polymerization entered in the seed stage and further continuous polymerization, chain growth and self-assembly continue until all the monomer is exhausted or all the large polymer flower-like structure (POP-F) precipitated out from the reaction mixture [S.
