Abstract

Wave energy is a new type of clean energy. In recent years, several approaches to extract wave energy have been presented., however, most of which with low efficiency and high cost are joining a mechanical conversion device between the waves and the electromagnetic generator. In order to simplify the structure of wave energy converters, improve the utilization rate of wave energy and reduce the cost of wave energy converters, a conversion system of ocean buoys which can produce energy directly based on sea wave energy is proposed. The design of the program of the conversion system is explained in detail. The movement of the ocean buoy is modeled and the parameters are analyzed. The performance of the generator is simulated under different sea conditions by Matlab. And the waveforms of the no-load voltage are obtained. Then the main factors affecting the performance of the generator, which are the height and frequency of the wave, are analyzed theoretically according to the waveforms. The theoretical analyses and the simulation results could be used for the theoretical study of permanent magnet tubular linear and engineering applications of the conversion system of ocean buoys.
