Abstract

To provide computer-aided industrial design (CAID) services under the regional networked manufacturing environment, the Application Service Provider (ASP)-based solution was proposed and its N-Tier Model was put forward, and the component-mapping table was used to satisfy diversified requirements of customers. The CAID system was divided into four toolsets: form design, color design, ergonomics design and design evaluation. Each toolsets was consisted of many function-decoupled reusable COM components, which could be dynamically loaded on CAD platform. The key technologies of system development were proposed on the study of style-based form layout prototype, color scheme database, man-machine components database and appearance evaluation. In the pilot application practice, the prototype system under J2EE framework can effectively support the CAID service for machine tools manufacture enterprise.
