Abstract

The thermosetting composites of bismaleimide (BMI) composites reinforced with potassium titanate whiskers were prepared. It was discussed the effect of whiskers on the gelation property of resin and studied the influence of whiskers on the reaction character by infrared spectrum (FTIR), the mechanical and thermal properties of the composites were also investigated through changing the methods of treating whiskers, the content and the mixing processing. The flexure and impact morphologies of composites at break were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results indicated that the properties of composite containing 15wt% or so potassium titanate whiskers are better than those of the other composites.
