Abstract

Comparative study on stability of colloids, thermal oxidization ability, detergency, anti-wear property of two super-overbased calcium alkyl salicylates was carried out through laboratory simulation tests. The freeze-etching electron microscopy, test of calcium distribution in super-overbased calcium alkyl salicylates were utilized to probe the colloidal particle size and the components of two specimens. The results show that the colloidal particle size, calcium distribution, basicity components and anti-wear performance of two products are different, while stability of colloids, thermal oxidization ability and detergency of them are similar to each other.
