Abstract

A compact and wideband 3 dB waveguide directional coupler is proposed. It consists of a pair of rectangular waveguides with a common broad side wall. Polygonal aperture are cut in the common broad side wall to introduce the necessary tight coupling. The metal surfaces are perforated to reduce the weight of the coupler. Direct-metal-laser-sintering (DMLS) technique is used for fabrication of this design.
