Abstract
To remedy the deficiency of current color design tools, a new software strategy to tackle the issue of product color design is proposed. New approaches include: constructing special color palette to get metal, plastic and other specific color polish; constructing a perceptually uniform color space of Lab and using regular geometric frame to achieve color harmony; constructing color knowledge base for a specific industry; and applying integrated fuzzy methods to evaluate the result of color design. A prototype CAID color design system was developed with a case of machine tool color design as example.
