Abstract

The diameter distribution of condensed phase of aluminized solid propellant combustion products is critical in prediction of energy property of solid propellant, as well as the input in numerical simulation. An innovative device was designed in this paper to collect the condensed particles in simulated SRM chamber. This equipment is fit for a broad scale of operating pressure and particles stagnation time scale. Typical NEPE solid propellant containing 18% aluminum was used as test sample and was ignited under different operation pressure. The results given by Mastersizer 2000 and Scanning Electron Micrograph show that the diameters of condensed-phase products are mainly distributed between 0.5-100 μ m. The peak value of diameters volumetric distribution is less than 2μm. The peak value of diameters volumetric distribution would increase slightly and concentrate with the increasing of operation pressure.
