Abstract
Carbon fiber reinforced plastics and titanium (CFRP/Ti) stacks are widely used in aircraft structures, and the surface roughness of connection holes has an important impact on connection reliability. When drilling from the side of CFRP processing, serious surface quality problems often occur in the transition region of CFRP. In order to control the surface roughness in the whole drilling process, the evolution process of the surface roughness in the transition region of CFRP is mainly studied, an evolution model of surface roughness in / between drilling cycles is proposed, index of roughness variation factor, RVFin and RVFbet, are established. Through comparative experiments, it is found that the surface roughness of 0°, 45° and 90° fiber direction are deteriorated, while 135° fiber direction improved in the drilling cycle. It is also found that the surface roughness of four directions is deteriorated in varying degrees between the drilling cycle. However, the numerical change of RVFin and RVFbet can easily reflect these trends, and provides theoretical basis and technical method for engineering application of CFRP / Ti drilling surface quality evaluation.
