Car styling design decision-making model based on multi-objective particle swarm optimization

Abstract

To reduce the influence of subjectivity and individual decision making difference on car styling design decision making, a kind of car styling design decision-making model based on Multi-objective Particle Swarm Optimization(MPSO) algorithm was proposed. Through restricting the factors such as decision space and decision variables numbers of vehicle design, the multi-objective decision making problem was solved with MPSO algorithm, and the hierarchical iteration was adopted to optimize the final scheme of styling design. To achieve the simulation for the whole car styling design decision making process, the car design decision problem was mapped to the mathematical model for guiding the car designers to carry out innovative design and assist decision-makers to evaluate every scheme of different round in a rational manner. The design decision process of a compact SUV vehicle modeling program was taken as an example to prove the feasibility and rationality of the proposed model.
