Abstract

A method for car headlight shape design based on cubic quasi-Bézier(cubic Q-Bézier) curves was proposed herein, which described the car headlight shape contours with one single cubic Q-Bézier curves. Firstly, a cubic Q-Bézier curve with contral points was created and adjusted in a plane; then the curve was projected on the car's surface; finally, the car surface was trimmed and formed the final shape contours of the car headlight. This method, based on the principle of the cubic Q-Bézier curve generation and splicing, can modify the curve quickly by global or partial adjustment and obtain many design solutions.
