Abstract

Aim. It has been customary traditionally in Chinese aircraft design to consider that the loads acting on the two wheels of the parallel landing gear are in the ratio of 6 to 4.But how to calculate the distribution remains, to our knowledge, unsettled. We now present a method for calculating it. In the full paper, we explain our method in detail. In this abstract, we just add some pertinent remarks to listing the two topics of explanation. The first topic is: the effect of the unevenness of airport pavement on the load distribution of parallel landing gear. In the first topic, we explain in detail why and how the effect should be calculated according to the procedure we give. The second topic is: the effect of the aircraft landing at an angle on the load distribution of parallel landing gear. In the second topic, we explain in some detail why and how the effect should be calculated according to the procedure we give. We apply our method to the distribution of parallel landing gear wheel load of an actual aircraft, using the known facts about the Russian 11-76 aircraft. Calculated results are: (l) for the unevenness effect, the ratio is 0.463:0.587; (2) for the effect of landing at an angle, the ratio is 0.317:0.724. These results show preliminarily that the traditional ratio in Chinese aircraft design of 6 to 4 is not satisfied by aircraft landing at an angle and, for this case, Chinese aircraft designers need consider what measures should be taken.
