Abstract

A broadband circular polariser is designed based on window-type frequency selective surface. The window is derived from subtraction of different squares. The proposed polariser has both advantages of wide operational bandwidth and high transmission coefficients. To prove this design, a new polariser working in X-band is optimized and fabricated. Experimental results show that the measured axial ratios lower than 3dB range from 7.21-13.43GHz, with the transmission coefficients more than 0.81. Meanwhile, the polariser is insensitive to the incident angle, which could obtain the operating frequency band at 8-13GHz with the incident angle increasing to 30o.
