Abstract

The biocompatibility of Ca2KNa(PO4)2 ceramics was investigated by means of cytotoxicity, hemocompatibility and pyrogenicity tests. Hemocompatibility tests were conducted using rabbit blood in vitro and the results show that the hemolysis degree of Ca 2KNa(PO4)2 extracts was 2.4%. Cytotoxicity tests were also performed with MTT assays to evaluate the influences of CA 2KNa(PO4)2 extracts on the presentation of mitochondrial dehydrogenase enzymes in living cells. It was found that Ca 2KNa(PO4)2 ceramics have favorable biocompatibility for repairing bone defects.
