Abstract
Ionic substances with melting points close to room temperature are referred to as ionic liquids. They have unique properties, e.g., environmentally benign, nonvolatile, nonflammable and are good solvents for a wide range of both organic and inorganic materials, so they are widely used in different chemical processes such as heterogeneous catalysis, synthesis, electrochemistry, sensors, battery applications and analytical chemistry. In this paper, the recent applications of ionic liquids in analytical chemistry are reviewed.
