Abstract
The reflection loss of bow-tie microstrip antenna are analyzed by using hybrid FDTD and FVTD algorithm. The conventional non-uniform FDTD method is used in regions adapting to rectangular mesh, while FVTD algorithm is applied on the slanted edges of microstrip patch antennas and curved PEC surface. In the regions where FDTD and FVTD quantities are mutually overlapping, these fields from the respective regions are obtained by using linear interpolating of their neighboring fields. The simulation and measured results show that with little increase of CPU time and memory, the hybrid algorithm greatly reduces the mesh density of conventional FDTD required with the conditions of ensuring the computational accuracy for broad frequency range.
