Abstract

The superfine heavy calcium carbonate particles were modified by polyester-type amphiphilic hyperdispersant. Different means such as Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), Rotary Viscometer, Laser Particle Size Analyzer, Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) were used for analyzing and characterizing the modified calcium carbonate. The results indicate that the polyester-type amphiphilic hyperdispersant has a modification effect on the heavy. Compared with the unmodified calcium carbonate, the modified calcium carbonate has four characteristics: narrower particle diameter distribution, lower absorption oil value, better compatibility with paraffin liquid, and better dispersibility in polyethylene and water.
